Pupil & Sports Premium
Aims:
At The Bluecoat School we are committed to meeting the social, pastoral and academic needs of all pupils within our school. The Pupil Premium funding enables us to meet any additional needs of children who may be socially disadvantaged. We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for FSM. The Government ambition behind the allocation of this funding is to close the gap between the achievement of pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who are not. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.
Pupil Premium funding will be allocated to classes, groups or individuals based on their specific identified needs. The leadership of the school is responsible for determining how pupil premium funding will be allocated and for reviewing the effectiveness of the spending decisions to ensure maximum impact on closing the achievement gap for eligible pupils. Everyone at The Bluecoat School is committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and take joint responsibility for closing the achievement gap.
We are continually reviewing the success and impact of the use of the pupil premium grant to close the achievement gap for eligible pupils. The leadership team are examining and using respected evidence of high impact strategies using sources including the EEF Toolkit – Sutton Trust Research and other Government evidence establishing successful approaches to effective use of pupil premium grant.
Sports Premium
Sport Premium at the Bluecoat School
The Academy Council have approved spending plans that will ensure that:
- all children benefit regardless of sporting ability
- the most able children are given the opportunity to develop their talents and compete in advanced tournaments
- staff have access to high quality training opportunities and professional development
- swimming is subsidised in order to support access by all pupils
- the amount of competitive sport that children participate in is increased
- children will be encouraged to develop their leadership skills through sport
- links are made for the children with sports clubs and opportunities within their local community
- additional sporting activities are provided through our curriculum and outside of the curriculum
In addition, a percentage of the Sports Premium has been invested in our membership of Inspire+, a charitable organisation, whose primary aim is working together with young people to increase their participation and success in sport
The Bluecoat School is committed to promoting the health and physical well-being of all of our pupils and to providing them with access to a wide range of quality sports tuition and opportunities. Our pupils are already motivated by the improvement in their PE curriculum and by the exciting new opportunities that Sports Premium is providing for them.
We use our Sports Premium grant to enhance our provision and provide opportunities for our pupils to develop skills within the subject.
