Julia Lemoine – Teaching Assistant

I support across the school, helping children predominantly with their phonics, reading, English and maths work sometimes working individually with children and sometimes working in small groups. I have worked at Bluecoat school for almost 5 years and have previously also worked in nursery, reception, and year one. I really like to see the progression and achievements the children make throughout the year. On a personal note, I love outdoor swimming and cooking!

Caroline Robinson – Teaching Assistant/HLTA

My role is quite varied. I teach classes in the absence of teachers, I also cover PPA. I support small groups and individual pupils with various interventions eg. Handwriting, reading fluency and comprehension, precision teaching, high frequency words, sensory circuits and other interventions when required. I listen to and support pupils with any concerns they may have. I use restorative practices to enable pupils to communicate with their peers to solve any misunderstandings. I provide support on the playground, join in with games and apply basic first aid if required. I support teachers and pupils in the classroom and put-up displays around school. I have been a TA for 16 years and at Bluecoat School for almost five years. I have worked in mainstream schools mostly but also worked for two years in alternative provision. Every day is different, some are challenging, some are exhausting, but they are always rewarding.  Working with children here at Bluecoat isn’t just my job, it’s my vocation! I love listening to music and dancing (badly). I enjoy reading and going for walks with my husband.

Rebecca Smith (Becca) – Teaching Assistant Apprentice

I spend my mornings supporting the children in the HIVE and spend my afternoons supporting Year 6 pupils with reading, maths, and general learning. I have been at The Bluecoat School for 1 month and before that I was a stay-at-home mum. I love to help people and share knowledge so working with the children at Bluecoat is a fantastic opportunity. It’s always a wonderful feeling to know that you’ve made a small difference and helped someone to achieve something that they may have been struggling with. The children are so friendly too, it’s a pleasure to work with them. My hobbies outside of school are drawing, listening to music/podcasts, and of course spending time with my daughters, partner, and our cats!

Miss Richardson – Teaching Assistant

I am a Teaching Assistant here at Bluecoat School, I am also a lunchtime supervisor, I run breakfast club and I also support our school library. I support learning within the classroom. I love working with each individual child and seeing them grow within their learning, individuality,  and their persistence each day. At lunchtime I help support the children on the playground to set up and play games with their friends.   I also enjoy running breakfast club, where I plan exciting activities for children to do.

I started off as a volunteer almost 25 years ago, after about 5 years I decided this was the career I wanted to do, so I went back to college and took the relevant courses to become a Teaching Assistant. This has led to my own personal love of learning, and I have more courses since.I love working and supporting individual children,  seeing them grow with their own individual learning, seeing the independence and resilience that each child shows on their journey is like the ‘light bulb’ moment, when they suddenly realise that they can do it!

I have two grown up sons, that I love spending time with, I also have a beautiful granddaughter that I like doing activities with when she visits.  I like volunteering too, I volunteer at Stamford Library, Inspire+, a local youth club, recently I have started with a group that supports young adults with SEND, which is a great passion of mine and hopefully, one day I would like to start my own SEND support group

Mrs Morten – Teaching Assistant & Nursery Lead

I am a teaching assistant here at The Bluecoat School. I have worked at our school for ten years, across the EYFS and Key Stage 1.

I have recently completed my degree in Professional Practice in Special Education Needs and Disability and have a passion about responding to needs in practice, seeking solutions and thrive on opportunities to advocate for children. I am looking forward to training as an Early Years SENCo.

I love working with the children of The Bluecoat School, especially when the children realise, they are able to do something; that may have been challenging for them, overcoming that challenge; growing in confidence and skill

Mr Rankin – Year 3 Class Teacher

I am a Year 3 teacher and Geography and History lead. I love teaching music and PE in particular and have worked here for one year. I have previously worked in Peterborough, Corby, Luton and Chantilly in France.I love working here at Bluecoat because our children are so friendly and polite, kind and wonderful. I love to read and listen to music- sometimes at the same time! I also love to play the guitar.I also love spending time with my wife and two daughters. I particularly love a road trip with them. We have driven to Scotland, France, Germany, Italy and even made it to Tunisia in our old Skoda!

Mrs Helen Taylor – SENDCO

As SENDCo, I am responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND practices and provision.

  • Supporting the identification of children with special educational needs.
  • Co-ordinating provision for children with SEND.
  • Liaising with parents of children with SEND.
  • Liaising with other providers, outside agencies, educational psychologists and external agencies particularly for children receiving support. Ensuring that the school keeps the records of all pupils with SEND up to date.

As  SENCO  I am part of the Senior leadership team and have the teams support to develop effective ways of overcoming barriers to a child’s learning and ensuring that they receive effective teaching through assessing the child’s needs and setting targets for improvement. We collaborate with curriculum co-ordinators at the school to make sure that the learning requirements of all children with SEND are given equal emphasis and priority. I joined The Bluecoat school in September 2023 but have worked as a SENCo since 2005. Working with children is wonderfully energising, especially when invited to view the world through their lens and explore their curiosity with them. Their abundant creativity, playfulness and innocence – enabled me to learn something new every day.

As a competitive swimmer I have been a ‘whiz kid’ when it comes to breaking down splits and stroke counts. All that lap counting in the water, adding of times, and continuous focus – all of which has helped me break down challenges with a logical perspective.  I also have a science degree so my Scientific knowledge allows me to face challenges with resilience, solve practical problems, and make informed decisions — both individually and collectively. I also love to travel and have been to many amazing places to experience the beauty of the natural world.
